David G. Embrick is Professor of Sociology and Africana Studies at the University of Connecticut, where he directs the Sustainable Global Cities Initiative. His research analyzes contemporary racism, diversity ideologies in institutions, and racial microaggressions. Embrick examines how race discourse shapes social inequalities in workplaces, education systems, and urban environments.
He has authored foundational texts on the rearticulation of racism through economic policies and taxation systems. Embrick founded and co-edits Sociology of Race and Ethnicity journal, and leads research projects on gun violence impacts in urban communities.
