David Fowler

David Fowler is a Professor of Social Psychiatry at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the Norwich Medical School. He holds roles as Mental Health Research Lead in the Faculty of Health and has served as Principal Investigator on major grants, including Wellcome Programme Grants and Medical Research Council projects. His career includes roles as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist (Norfolk & Waveney Mental Health Partnership Trust) and Reader in Clinical Psychology (UEA). Fowler’s research focuses on early intervention in psychosis, psychosocial interventions, and cognitive/social aspects of severe mental health disorders.

Research Interests: Development of CBT and social recovery therapies, psychosis prevention, and international collaborations in mental health education. Key projects include the PRP Group’s Wellcome Programme Grant and the EDEN project evaluating early psychosis services.

Grants & Collaborations: Fowler has led projects on CBT for PTSD in severe mental illness (NIMH), social recovery therapy (MRC), and international collaborations in Australia, Italy, and the U.S. He is a sought-after trainer in psychosis management and has delivered workshops globally.
