David Foran is a Professor of Pathology, Laboratory Medicine and Radiology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Rutgers University. He holds dual leadership roles as Chief Informatics Officer and Executive Director of Biomedical Informatics and Computational Imaging at Rutgers Cancer Institute, and Chief Research Informatics Officer for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.
His research pioneers medical informatics and computational imaging with emphasis on computer-assisted diagnostics and machine learning for pathology, radiology, and oncology. He develops advanced tools for characterizing disease morphology and molecular expression patterns, enabling precision medicine approaches through statistical pattern recognition and automated image interpretation systems.
Dr. Foran's laboratory has secured major funding from NIH, DARPA, DoD, and the Whitaker Foundation, producing innovative diagnostic systems including image-guided lymphoma screening, tissue microarray robotics, and 3D hepatic neoplasm tracking. He actively shapes the field through editorial roles in Cancer Informatics and Pathology Informatics journals, NIH study section membership, and leadership in IEEE and pathology informatics conferences.
