Dr David Evans serves as a Lecturer in the Dietetics, Nutrition & Biological Sciences, Physiotherapy, Podiatry & Radiography Division (DNBSPPR) at Queen Margaret University, where he also functions as the Practice Placement Coordinator for Radiotherapy. He joined QMU in 2020 after completing his clinical and academic training.
Dr Evans completed his undergraduate degree in radiotherapy at the University of the West of England in 2012, followed by clinical work in cancer centers across England and Tanzania. He earned his PhD in 2018 from Cardiff University with research focused on radiotherapy patient experiences after cancer treatment completion.
His research interests center on cancer care, radiotherapy, survivorship experiences, and identity reconstruction, with particular attention to oropharyngeal cancer patients. Dr Evans specializes in qualitative research methods, especially interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA), examining how lived experiences can improve cancer care pathways.
Dr Evans is affiliated with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Society of Radiographers (SoR). He was nominated for a QMU STaR award in teaching excellence in 2020.

At QMU, Dr Evans teaches qualitative research methods and ethics while supervising final year dissertation students and postgraduate students at both master's and doctoral levels. He particularly enjoys mentoring students in research methodology and supporting their development of research skills.
