David English

David English is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development at North Carolina State University. He also serves as Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs for the University of North Carolina System, acting as Chief Academic Officer. His roles involve advising on academic affairs and guiding the academic mission of the UNC System.

Awards and recognitions include the Appalachian State Young Alumni Award (2018) and the NC State Distinguished Alumni Award (2019). He serves on the North Carolina Education and Workforce Innovation Commission and has previously contributed to the Transfer Advisory Committee and the ACT Council.

Advising and professional service include his leadership roles at the UNC System and UNC School of the Arts, where he previously served as Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. He has also been involved in admissions and college access initiatives, including directing CFNC.org.

He is affiliated with groups such as ELPHD Higher Education Policy and Postsecondary Education at NC State.
