David E. Johnson is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Comparative Literature at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). He holds a PhD (1991), MA (1990) from the University at Buffalo, and a BA (1985) from the University of Kansas. His research focuses on continental philosophy, Latin American philosophy, and Latin American narrative. He currently co-edits CR: The New Centennial Review (since 2000) and the SUNY series Literature . . . in Theory (since 2016). He is completing two book projects: one on the imagination and another on Jacques Derrida's relationship with language and literature.
His recent work includes responses to scholarly engagements with his book Kant's Dog, published in a supplement of the Colombian journal Ides y Valores (2023). His office hours are by appointment.
