Norwegian University of Science And TechnologyAbout
David Didier Morin is an Associate Professor at the Department of Structural Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. He is affiliated with the Structural IMpact Laboratory (SIMLab). His research focuses on materials, joints, and structures under extreme loading conditions, combining experimental testing with numerical modeling using Python, FORTRAN, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA). He teaches courses TKT4140 (Numerical Methods) and KT8306 (Plasticity Theory) at NTNU.
Education: PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Valenciennes and Hainaut-Cambresis (now UPHF) in 2010, with a thesis on structural adhesives under crash loadings.
Research emphasizes materials and structural behavior under high/low-speed deformations, failure analysis, and computational mechanics. He develops FORTRAN subroutines for ABAQUS, as evidenced by his GitHub repository contributions, including implementations of material models like the Modified Johnson-Cook model.
He is actively involved in the academic community, contributing to open-source projects and maintaining a GitHub profile detailing his work and teaching activities.
