David Delaine

Dr David Delaine is an Associate Professor in the School of Universal Computing, Construction and Engineering Education at Florida International University's College of Engineering and Computing. He directs the Inclusive Community-based Learning (iCBL) Lab, which investigates how community-based learning impacts stakeholders. His NSF CAREER-funded research develops evidence-based approaches to foster reflexive engineering professionals and promote diversity.

His work examines community-academic partnerships, reciprocity in service-learning, empathy development in engineers, and diversity in STEM education. Recent publications focus on research methodologies including secondary qualitative data analysis frameworks and systematic reviews of reciprocity models.

Delaine's research demonstrates consistent focus on ethical dimensions of engineering practice, particularly through community engagement models that bridge academic and community knowledge systems.
