David Chiu

David Chiu is Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at University of Puget Sound, where he also served as Department Chair (2019-2022). Education includes: B.S./M.S. from Kent State University and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Ohio State University.

Research expertise spans distributed systems, cloud computing, and large-scale data management. Focuses on optimizing database indexing structures (particularly bitmap indices), cache management strategies, and parallel data processing frameworks. Recent work explores pedagogical applications of agile methodologies in computer science education.
