David Chicoine

David Chicoine is the W. G. Haag Professor of Archaeology at Louisiana State University's Department of Geography & Anthropology. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of East Anglia (2007), M.Sc. from Université de Montréal (2003), and B.Sc. from Université de Montréal (2000). His research focuses on ancient Andean societies, particularly the north coast of Peru, directing excavations at Cerro San Isidro in the Nepeña Valley. Chicoine's work investigates the rise of divine lordships and explores interdisciplinary methods like remote sensing and geoarchaeology.

Service & Mentorship: Chair of LSU's Faculty Senate Integrative Learning Core Committee; active in professional organizations (SAA, AAA, RPA). Mentors over 20 graduate students, emphasizing fieldwork and theoretical rigor. Current advisees explore 3D imaging, lithic technology, and Andean bioarchaeology.

Labs/Teams: Directs the Cerro San Isidro Project (collaboration with George F. Lau); affiliated with the LSU Museum of Natural Science and the Louisiana Office of State Climatology.
