David C. Schott

David C. Schott serves as Professor of the Practice of Law and Director of the Center for Advocacy at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he also coaches the national ABA Trial Team and teaches practical legal skills through the Advocacy Department.

His educational background includes:

• BS in Business / Policy Science from Carnegie-Mellon University (1985)

Professor Schott specializes in Trial Advocacy and Civil Litigation, with deep expertise in Domestic Relations, Business Law, Legal Ethics, and Negotiation. His work bridges courtroom practice with academic instruction, emphasizing real-world application through trial simulations, mock competitions, and professional ethics training that prepares students for complex litigation scenarios.

His distinguished service has been recognized with:

As an educator and mentor, Professor Schott founded The Providence Foundation of Law & Leadership in 2006 to fund high school students pursuing justice-related careers. He has coached the university's national ABA Trial Team since 2005 and previously mentored Regis Jesuit and Bear Creek High School Mock Trial Teams (1999-2008), while providing business counsel and board advisory services to diverse entities.
