David Boonin is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Colorado with expertise in applied ethics, ethical theory, and the history of moral philosophy. His influential scholarship addresses contentious issues including abortion ethics, punishment justification, racial justice, and obligations to future generations.
Notable publications include A Defense of Abortion (Cambridge, 2003), The Problem of Punishment (Cambridge, 2008), and Beyond Roe: Why Abortion Should be Legal Even if the Fetus is a Person (Oxford, 2019). He has held visiting positions internationally, including as Erskine Fellow at New Zealand's University of Canterbury.
