David Boevers

David Boevers is an Associate Professor of Production Technology and Management and Technical Director at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama. He advises student Technical Directors on theatrical productions and teaches courses including Production Planning, Studiocraft – CAD, Scenic Fabrication & Installation, Stage Rigging Concepts, and Entertainment Rigging. During summers, he coordinates the Design & Production Pre-College Program.

• Expertise: Technical direction, scenic fabrication, stage rigging, CAD applications in theater, entertainment safety protocols
• Professional Involvement: ETCP-certified rigging instructor, OSHA 10/30 certified, member of ESTA Technical Standards Program Rigging Working Group
• Leadership: Faculty Senate representative, member of School of Drama Sustainability Committee, Provost’s Assessment Taskforce participant
• Industry Experience: Worked at Yale Repertory Theatre, Cirque Du Soleil (“O”), Hudson Scenic Studios, and Maine State Music Theatre in roles spanning carpentry, welding, rigging, and project management
