David Bilger

David Bilger is a Professor of Trumpet at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music. Previously, he served as principal trumpet of The Philadelphia Orchestra (1995-2022) and the Dallas Symphony. He has performed as a soloist with major orchestras including the Houston Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, and Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York, and has held recitals in New York, Los Angeles, and other major cities.

• Education: Master of Music from Juilliard School of Music, Bachelor of Music from the University of Illinois
• Active in chamber music, including collaborations with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Canadian Brass
• Teaching experience: Faculty at Curtis Institute of Music (27 years), Temple University, University of Georgia, Rice University, and Visiting Guest Artist at Peabody Institute
• Recorded electro-acoustic music with composer Meg Bowles and performed in notable venues like Carnegie Hall
