About
David Beach is a Professor of Architecture and Associate Dean at the Hammons School of Architecture, Drury University. He has been a faculty member since 1999 and was promoted to Professor in 2021. His work bridges traditional architectural design with advanced digital technologies, focusing on full digital immersion to enhance design workflows, client collaboration, and decision-making through building information modeling (BIM).
At Drury, he teaches design studios, urban-scale projects in the Center for Community Studies, and both introductory and advanced digital design technology courses. His research explores applied design thinking in virtual spaces and the role of digital fabrication in expanding architectural capabilities to create physical products. He maintains an active architectural practice and shares insights on his blog, The Architect’s Digital Design Guide, which addresses questions from students and practitioners.
David earned a B.Arch. from Drury University in 1997 and an M.Arch. from the University of Oklahoma in 2009. He balances his academic and professional life with family time training Morgan horses on his rural Missouri farm.
