David Bayles

David Bayles is a Lecturer in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), where he also serves as Drum Set Director and oversees Jazz Combos & Ensembles, the Afro-Caribbean Orchestra, and Chamber Music coaching. He concurrently holds faculty positions at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the Milwaukee Jazz Institute. His professional roles include clinician for Yamaha Music Corporation and Zildjian Cymbals, facilitating performances and workshops across the U.S. and Canada.

Bayles holds a BFA in Music Education from UWM and another BFA from the University of Northern Colorado. His artistic collaborations span performances with renowned jazz artists such as Bruce Barth, Slide Hampton, and Barry Harris, alongside engagements in major cities like New York City, Chicago, and Washington D.C. His recording credits include projects with the Luis Diaz Quintet, Curt Hanrahan Quintet, and Hal Leonard Corporation's jazz education series.

As an educator, his focus extends to percussion pedagogy and ensemble leadership, reflected in his dual teaching appointments and industry partnerships. His performance and recording work emphasize contemporary jazz idioms, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, and improvisational techniques.
