David Anthony

David Anthony is a Professor of Early American Literature and serves as the Director of the School of Literature, Writing, and Digital Humanities at Southern Illinois University. His research focuses on Antebellum American Literature, Sensationalism, and intersections of Commerce, Gender Studies, and Digital Humanities.

Anthony has authored the book Paper Money Men: Commerce, Manhood, and the Sensational Public Sphere in Antebellum America (2009) and contributed to journals such as ALH, American Literature, and Early American Literature. His forthcoming work Sensationalism and the Jew in Antebellum American Literature will be published by Oxford University Press in 2023.
