Dave Thompson is Associate Professor and holder of the Mark and Brenda Brown Professorship in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University. An alumnus (B.S. 2006), he earned M.S. degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering, plus a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan. Postdoctoral research focused on implanted neural recording devices.
His research decodes neural signals (particularly EEG) to develop communication systems for paralyzed individuals and monitor emotional states. Additional work involves non-invasive sensors for sleep studies, including NSF-funded autism research at Heartspring. Collaborates with Steve Warren, Punit Prakash, and Bala Natarajan.
