Dave Spratt

Dave Spratt is Professor of Microbial Ecology and Education at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute, University College London. His work focuses on understanding microbial population shifts in polymicrobial diseases using molecular techniques like metagenomics, spanning oral, respiratory, and systemic health.

Scientific contributions span oral biofilm dynamics, periodontal microbiology, airway microbiome, and implant material interactions, with funding from EU, MRC, BBSRC, Wellcome, and industry partners.

Teaching initiatives include curriculum development for MSc and BSc programmes, emphasizing modern microbiology concepts and practical clinical sample processing skills for dental professionals.
