Dave Kolar

Dave Kolar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Science at the University of Mary Washington. His research focuses on environmental psychology, social perception, measurement/evaluation methodologies, and interventions for at-risk youth mentoring.

Kolar serves as external evaluator for a 5-year, $996,000 National Science Foundation grant, and has contributed to grants from the U.S. Department of Education ($475,000) and Health and Human Services ($300,000). His work has been published in Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Journal of Personality, and Mentoring & Tutoring: Partnership in Learning.

As a media commentator, he has discussed pandemic-related personality changes in The Alpena News and contributed to Fredericksburg's "Reboot Downtown! Initiative" through community surveys. He also mentors students in the Psychology in Europe study abroad program.
