Dave Hoisington is a Senior Research Professor in the Crop and Soil Sciences Department at the University of Georgia (UGA) and serves as Director of the Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Peanut. His roles involve leading collaborative research to enhance peanut production, quality, and nutritional impact globally, particularly in Africa and the U.S. He holds a joint appointment through UGA’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CAES).
Previously, he served as Deputy Director General for Research at the International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in India and held leadership positions at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Mexico. His early career included roles as an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Missouri, focusing on maize genetics.
His research interests span peanut genetics, mycotoxin mitigation, and addressing gender, youth, and nutrition in agricultural systems. He oversees the Peanut Innovation Lab, part of USAID’s Global Food Security Act, which unites U.S. and international researchers to combat poverty and improve food security.
Hoisington has authored over 100 peer-reviewed articles and 30 book chapters, reflecting his extensive contributions to plant science and global agriculture.
