Dave Griffiths

Dave Griffiths is a Senior Lecturer and Section Head for Art Postgraduate Taught at Manchester Metropolitan University's School of Art. His artistic practice explores photographic images as tools for historical navigation, combining archive fragments with hybrid media including film, video, and microfilm technology.

Research focuses on material possibilities of obsolete media formats, particularly microfilm's capacity for memory preservation and speculative futures. Notable projects include 'Babel Fiche' examining archival urges in digital culture and 'Deep Field' investigating nuclear waste communication.

Exhibitions include Perpetual Uncertainty (Bildmuseet), Finding Treblinka (Wiener Library), and solo shows at Castlefield Gallery. He co-founded the Film Material collective and co-curated UnSpooling - Artists and Cinema at Cornerhouse.
