Dave Edey serves as a Research Scientist Associate in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the Jackson School of Geosciences, University of Texas at Austin. He is a key member of the University of Texas High-Resolution X-ray CT Facility (UTCT), where he supports data acquisition, processing, and software development for XCT applications.
His research focuses on applying high-resolution X-ray computed tomography (XCT) to geological and biological materials. Areas of expertise include X-Ray computed tomography, tomography reconstruction, digital morphology, volumetric data analysis, CT data visualization, X-ray physics, and digital educational resources. Since 2014, he has co-led annual short courses on CT-based 3D analysis for researchers across disciplines.
Dave contributes to software tools such as Blob3D and Quant3D and is committed to improving XCT techniques and supporting the scientific community in the study of complex natural materials at the UTCT facility.
