Daryl Adair

Dr. Daryl Adair is an Associate Professor of Sport Management at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS Business School). He previously held academic roles at Flinders University, De Montfort University, University of Queensland, and University of Canberra. His research focuses on sport history, geopolitics, race/ethnicity in sport, and international relations in sport.

Research Interests: Adair explores the intersection of sport with history, politics, and sociology. His recent work addresses geopolitics in sport governance, racial dynamics in spectator behavior, and the role of sport in global diplomacy. He has published extensively on topics like Olympic Games management, illicit drug policies in professional leagues, and Indigenous representation in Australian sports.

Grants & Leadership: He led projects such as the National Sports Governance Observer (2018–2019) and research on community sport economics (2009). He serves on editorial boards for journals including Journal of Sport History and Sport in Society.

Awards: Recognized for academic excellence with Vice-Chancellor's Awards at Flinders University (1987, 1988).
