Darren Richardson

Dr. Darren Richardson is a Research Fellow at Coventry University's Centre for Physical Activity, Sport and Exercise Sciences. His research focuses on the physiological and psychological impacts of physical activity interventions, particularly in older adults. Key areas include caffeine's effects on postural control, pandemic-related behavioral changes, and resistance training methodologies. He has conducted quasi-experimental and randomized controlled trials examining exercise programs' efficacy in promoting healthy aging.

Education & Qualifications: Completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Exercise Science at Coventry University, supervised by Professors Nicholas Clarke and Martyn Duncan (thesis titled 'High-velocity, low-load and low-velocity, high load resistance exercise and their influence on physiological outcomes, affective responses and functional performance in older adults').

Research Interests: Older adult health, ergogenic aids (caffeine/carbohydrates), exercise prescription for aging populations, pandemic-related health behavior changes, and sports biomechanics. His work bridges gerontology, exercise physiology, and public health through mixed-methods approaches.
