About
Dr. Darren Fayne is an Assistant Professor of Computational Chemistry at Dublin City University's School of Chemical Sciences. His research bridges computational and experimental approaches to develop novel therapeutics targeting proteins involved in cancer, viral infections, and inflammatory diseases. He leads the Molecular Design Group comprising PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers.
Research interests focus on rational drug design methodologies with emphasis on nuclear receptor modulation and computational tool development. Current projects target novel inhibitors for IL-17A (inflammation), LspA (antibacterial), and Vif (antiviral) targets.
Recent publications demonstrate strong focus on oncology and virology applications, particularly developing CRISPR-based therapies and small-molecule inhibitors. Patent filings include innovations in cancer treatment compounds.
