Darlene Michitsch

Darlene Michitsch serves as Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Baldwin Wallace University, where she has taught since 1998 while maintaining active involvement in the Cleveland arts community.

Education:

• M.A. in Art History, New York University Institute of Fine Arts
• B.A. in Art History, Kenyon College

Her scholarly focus centers on 18th century European art and prints, extending to American Art, Western Art history, and censorship studies. She developed the award-winning distance learning course "Art of Time" and teaches innovative sections like "Dirty Pictures: Censorship in the Visual Arts," leveraging her professional gallery experience to demonstrate career pathways in visual arts.

Scientific Awards:

• Crystal Award from the Association of Education Communications and Technology for "Art of Time" distance learning course

Michitsch contributes extensively to the arts ecosystem as a trustee of the Print Club of Cleveland (affiliated with the Cleveland Museum of Art), authoring a chapter for the upcoming CMA publication "The Print Club of Cleveland, 100 Years" and scripting a documentary on the Print Club's history.
