About
Darius Scott is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at McGill University, based in Burnside Hall. His research focuses on how social stigmas, historical violence, and cultural meaning shape perceptions of urban/rural environments in North America, with particular attention to Black communities and intersectional marginalization.
He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC) and completed postdoctoral research at the Center for Health Equity Research at UNC School of Medicine. Current projects include analyzing stigma’s impact on health perceptions in urban environments and addressing well-being challenges for Black gender/sexual minorities in Montreal.
Funded by SSHRC (Canada), Ford Foundation, NSF (US), and SSRC, his work bridges health geography, Black geographies, and social/spatial disparities research. He is currently unavailable for summer undergraduate supervision but encourages future engagement.
