Darin R. Brown

Darin R. Brown is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Pitzer College, affiliated with the Psychology Field Group. Since joining Pitzer in 2019, he has taught courses including Introduction to Psychology, Neurobiology of Emotion, and Research Methods. He holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of New Mexico, with prior degrees from California State University, Los Angeles.

Research Interests focus on:

• EEG signatures of frontal cortical function
• Emotion processing
• Reward and decision-making mechanisms
• Computational psychiatry

Scientific Awards include multiple Student Presentation Awards from the Society of Psychophysiological Research (2015–2019), the Susan Deese-Roberts Award for Outstanding Graduate Teaching (2019), and the Psychology Annual Award for Best Experimental Publication (2018).

Selected Grants and Honors highlight consistent recognition for research excellence and teaching. He has presented at prestigious conferences, including the Society for Psychophysiological Research (2018–2019) and the Research Society on Alcoholism Annual Meeting (2019).
