Daria Mattingly

Daria Mattingly is a Lecturer in Contemporary International History (European) at the University of Chichester. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, an MA in Russian History from the University of Bristol, and MA and BA (Hons) in Philosophy from Kyiv Shevchenko University. Previously, she taught at the University of Bath and the University of Cambridge, where she held a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (2019-2023).

Her research focuses on perpetrator studies, the social and cultural history of the Soviet Union, and Ukraine’s historical memory. She is completing a book titled *Stalin’s Activists: The Rank-and-File Perpetrators of the Holodomor*, examining the memorial traces of those involved in Ukraine’s 1932-33 famine. Her work frequently engages with media outlets like CNN, BBC, and *L’Express*, emphasizing public historical discourse.

Professional affiliations include membership in the Association for the Studies of Nationalities (ASN), British International Studies Association (BISA), and the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES). She has received the 2015 ASN Award for Best Doctoral Paper on Ukraine.

Her publications span academic journals and edited volumes, analyzing Holodomor perpetrators, Soviet collectivization, and historical memory. She emphasizes interdisciplinary methods, blending archival research with cultural and literary analysis.
