Prof. Danny Abrams is a Professor of Engineering Sciences and Applied Mathematics at Northwestern University's McCormick School of Engineering, and co-director of NICO (Northwestern Institute on Complex Systems). He holds a courtesy appointment as a Professor of Physics and Astronomy in the Weinberg College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on mathematical modeling of complex systems, with applications in physics, engineering, and interdisciplinary science.
Education: B.S. in Applied Physics from Caltech, Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Cornell University. Postdoctoral work included an NSF Math Sciences fellowship at MIT. Notable collaborations include MIT Lincoln Laboratory, LIGO Project, US Antarctic Program, and Bolivia’s Fundación Patiño.
Research interests span complex systems, nonlinear dynamics, and statistical mechanics. Awards include the Fulbright Scholarship and James S. McDonnell Foundation support.
