Danni James

Danni James is a Senior Lecturer in Operating Department Practice and Course Director for the BSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice (Apprenticeship) at Canterbury Christ Church University, affiliated with the Allied Health Professions and Dental Practice/SIM unit. With extensive clinical experience as a senior Operating Department Practitioner at East Sussex Healthcare Trust, she maintains active clinical practice while leading academic programs.

Her pedagogical approach integrates problem-based learning, practical workshops, and community-building strategies to enhance healthcare education.

Advising and Professional Activities: As Course Director, she coordinates placements and delivers inductions for ODP, Paramedic, Nursing, and Midwifery students across theatre departments. She organized campus study days for distance learners to evaluate community enhancement and serves as lead clinical practice educator, conducting supervision sessions and audits through blended theoretical-practical methodologies.

Team Involvement: Danni co-developed with Health Education England a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) titled "Introduction to Operating Department Practice" (www.ahpcourses.co.uk/courses/odp), widely adopted by universities to address limited work experience access in this healthcare specialty.
