Danine Farquharson is a Full Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Her academic career spans over two decades with expertise in Irish literature, 21st-century British literature, energy humanities, and postcolonial studies. She holds a PhD, MA, and BA from Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University of Alberta respectively.
Her research focuses on intersections between literature and energy systems, cultural responses to resource extraction, and postcolonial narratives. Notable works include co-editing Cold Water Oil: Offshore Petroleum Cultures (2021) and Shadows of the Gunmen (2008). She has delivered keynote lectures globally and organized conferences such as Petrocultures 2016.
