Danielle Armour

Danielle Armour is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Queensland, within the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. She serves as Co-Director of Indigenous Engagement and has cultural links to Kamilaroi Country in Northern NSW through her paternal Grandmother.

Dr. Armour's research focuses on Aboriginal education, particularly exploring the complexities of working between Indigenous and Western knowledge systems in educational settings. Her work emphasizes culturally responsive pedagogies and community collaboration. Key research areas include:

Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on reimagining Indigenous education through discourses of excellence, examining the role of Aboriginal education officers, and developing culturally responsive approaches to mathematics education. Much of her work involves longitudinal research projects and collaboration with Indigenous communities, Elders, and education professionals across urban and remote settings.

Dr. Armour actively supervises doctoral students working on projects related to Indigenous education, truth-telling, culturally responsive school communities, and First Nations thinking in learning. Her current research is supported by multiple grants including the Tagai Mathematics Project (2024-2026), Equity and Excellence Behavior Review Tools for Queensland State Schools (2023-2027), and the FamilyLinQ Evaluation Framework (2022-2026).
