Dr. Daniela Rüther is a historian affiliated with the Ruhr-University Bochum’s Faculty of History, specializing in Gender History, Economic History, and the history of National Socialism. She leads the DFG-funded project "The other side of the counter. Female clerks in food retail stores in the first half of the 20th century" (since 2022) and has held roles such as Scientific Associate at the Institute for Social Movements (since 2015). Her research spans women’s biographies, business history, and resistance movements in Nazi Germany.
Education highlights include a Master of Arts (1989) and PhD (2000) in History from Ruhr-University Bochum. She has authored/co-authored books like Der Fall Nährwert (2022) and Hitler’s ‚Eintopfsonntag‘ (2022), focusing on economic crimes and Nazi-era myths. Prior to academia, she held leadership roles in communications and marketing (1994–2007) and was a journalist/historian (2007–present).
