Daniela Corda is a Senior Scientist and Group Leader at the Institute for Endocrinology and Experimental Oncology, part of the National Research Council (CNR) in Naples, Italy. With a career spanning over four decades, she has held leadership roles including Director of the Department of Biomedical Sciences (2019-2022), Director of the Institute of Protein Biochemistry (2009-2018), and earlier positions at the Mario Negri Sud Institute.
- Education: Master's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Perugia, Italy; PhD in Life Sciences from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel; post-doctoral training at the National Institutes of Health, USA.
Her research focuses on cell biology, particularly on protein post-translational modifications, lipid signaling, and membrane dynamics. She pioneered studies on ADP-ribosylation and discovered the BARS protein and glycerophosphoinositols, which are critical in membrane transport and anti-inflammatory therapies.
Scientific awards include the AIDDA prize for Women in Science (2010), Fogarty and Feinberg fellowships, and EMBO membership since 2000. Her expertise extends to science policy, notably contributing to Horizon 2020 and gender equality initiatives in Europe.
