Daniel Wood

Daniel Wood is a Professor at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM), serving as Chair of Musicianship and Composition for the Pre-College Division and affiliated with the Continuing Education department. He is a composer, performer, and educator specializing in chamber music, horn performance, and music education. Mr. Wood emphasizes holistic musician development, teaching technical proficiency alongside musicality and stage presence. His compositions focus on small ensembles like brass, wind, and string chamber groups, steel drum ensembles, and jazz combos.

Mr. Wood’s professional activities include:

• Founding member of the Quadre horn quartet (toured since 1998)
• Member of Avenue Winds and Teal Crane Trio, championing new works
• Founder of Solid Wood Publishing
• Recent commissions for Ceora Winds, Presidio String Trio, and Avenue Winds
• Lectures on the Business of Music at institutions like Eastman School of Music and University of Oregon
