Daniel Vaz is a third-year PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbrücken, Germany, supervised by Parinya Chalermsook. He relocated from Portugal after completing a BSc and MSc in Informatics Engineering at the University of Coimbra.
His research focuses on Approximation Algorithms, Network Design, and Cut Problems on trees or graphs of bounded treewidth, with additional interest in Combinatorial Optimization and Graph Theory. He participated in the Bridging Continuous and Discrete Optimization program as a Visiting Graduate Student in Fall 2017.
