Daniel Taylor is an Assistant Professor of Instrumental Music Education at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, joining in Fall 2024. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (2024), an M.A. in Music Education from The Ohio State University (2021), and a B.A. in Music Education (summa cum laude) from Florida State University (2010). Prior to academia, he taught middle school band and general music in Florida for nine years and remains active as an adjudicator and clinician in school music programs. His research focuses on teacher education across career stages and education policy, particularly studying how music teachers engage in lifelong learning through professional development initiatives.
He has presented at conferences such as the Society for Music Teacher Education, American Educational Research Association, and National Association for Music Education. Taylor recently relocated to Nashville, where he is excited to contribute to the university’s academic and musical community.
