Daniel Siegwart is Professor in Biomedical Engineering and Biochemistry and the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center, holding the W. Ray Wallace Distinguished Chair. He directs the Program in Genetic Drug Engineering and Drug Delivery Program, developing targeted nanoparticle systems for genomic medicines including CRISPR-based gene editing.
Research pioneered Selective Organ Targeting (SORT) lipid nanoparticle technology enabling tissue-specific mRNA delivery and editing. Innovations advance therapies for genetic diseases and cancer through rational design of nucleic acid carriers. Recent publications demonstrate lung stem cell editing, membrane-destabilizing lipids, and systemic delivery platforms.
