Daniel P. Lopresti

Daniel P. Lopresti is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Lehigh University's P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science. He has held leadership roles including Department Chair (2003–2019), Interim Dean of Engineering (2014–2015), and Director of the Data X Initiative. He is also President of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) and a leader in the Computing Community Consortium (CCC).

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Engineering, Dartmouth College (1982)

His research focuses on Machine Learning, Document Analysis, and AI for Social Good, with contributions to electronic voting security, biometric systems, and combating human trafficking via AI. He has pioneered the International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition's doctoral consortium and co-edits Springer’s International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition.

He leads Lehigh’s Nano/Human Interfaces Presidential Engineering Initiative, collaborating across Materials Science, Bioengineering, and Psychology. His work emphasizes diversity in computing and interdisciplinary innovation, including roles in Lehigh’s Silicon Valley Program and the Baker Institute.
