Daniel Nichols is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Seton Hall University and serves as Director of Health Professions. His research focuses on virology, particularly the molecular mechanisms of Molluscum Contagiosum Virus (MCV) immune evasion. He has contributed to identifying functions of MCV proteins like MC160 and MC163, advancing understanding of viral-host interactions.
Dr. Nichols teaches courses in microbiology, molecular virology, and biochemistry. He has mentored nine Master’s students and actively involves undergraduates in research. His work spans viruses including SARS-CoV and Hepatitis C, with 19 peer-reviewed publications to date. He received the 2022 College of Arts and Sciences Faculty of the Year award for his contributions to teaching and research.
