- Education: BA (2014) from UT Austin; PhD (2019) from MIT
Daniel’s research explores the intersection of ethics, logic, and value theory, particularly how values combine across moral, economic, and philosophical domains. His work addresses paradoxes in supererogation, duties to oneself, and the structure of ethical obligations. He is currently writing two books: What We Owe to Ourselves and (with Brian Hedden) Multidimensionality: How Values Combine in Ethics, Economics, and Beyond.
Daniel’s recent publications analyze infinite ethics, intransitive value, and deontological constraints. Collaborations with scholars like Nathaniel Baron-Schmitt and Theron Pummer highlight his engagement with contemporary debates in moral philosophy. His articles appear in leading journals such as Mind, Noûs, and Journal of Philosophy.
Scientific Recognition:
- Selected for Philosopher's Annual (2024) for “Each Counts for One”
Daniel also contributes to public philosophy through podcasts and essays on topics like mask mandates, race politics, and video game ethics. His book reviews and public commentary further demonstrate his interdisciplinary reach and commitment to engaging broader audiences.
