Dr. Daniel McDermott is an Associate Professor of Biology at Southern Arkansas University's College of Science and Engineering. He holds a B.S. in Human Biology from Chadron State College and a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Iowa. His research focuses on immune responses to pathogens, including T-cell activation mechanisms during viral infections and macrophage maturation processes. Previously, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado-Denver on Listeria monocytogenes immune responses and taught at Metropolitan State University-Denver.
Current courses include Principles of Biology, Microbiology for Nursing, and General Microbiology. His investigations examine microbial signaling impacts on phagosome maturation through proteomic analysis of isolated phagosomes.
