Daniel Maier

Daniel Maier is an Assistant Professor of New Testament at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Copenhagen. He is also affiliated with the University of Zurich through his prior postdoctoral work and current collaborative projects. His research spans interdisciplinary domains including happiness in ancient Judaism and the New Testament, digitalization of Ethiopic texts, and the reception of ancient history in video games.

Research Focus
Maier explores intersections between theology, digital humanities, and gaming culture. His work addresses:

• Concepts of happiness in ancient religious texts
• Digital preservation of Ethiopic manuscripts
• Video games as platforms for theological reflection

Grants & Initiatives
He received a grant from the Universitäre Lehrförderung (ULF) to develop innovative didactic tools for the "Religion in Video Games" course at UZH's Theological Faculty, including "video game essays" as assessment methods.
