Daniel Konikoff is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Arts. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto's Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies (2024). His research examines the intersection of justice and technology, particularly governance of police facial recognition technology in Canada. Previously, he directed the Privacy, Technology, and Surveillance program at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, leading advocacy on AI and cybersecurity legislation.
Research Focus: Explores technological impacts on criminal justice systems, surveillance ethics, algorithmic accountability, and qualitative methodologies in socio-legal studies.
