Daniel Harris, PhD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences, and Director of the Epidemiology PhD Program. His research focuses on optimizing medication and vaccine use for older adults in community and long-term care settings, employing descriptive, causal, and predictive methodologies to assess real-world safety and effectiveness. Dr. Harris also examines the impact of health policies on medication and vaccine utilization.
Education: PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto and MPH from Brown University.
Research interests include pharmacoepidemiology, aging populations, long-term care dynamics, descriptive epidemiology, health administrative data analysis, geriatric syndromes, and vaccine efficacy. His work has been funded by the Alzheimer Society of Canada, Canadian Institutes for Health Research, National Institute on Aging, and industry partners.
Affiliations include the Veterans Health Administration (Long-term Care Services and Supports COIN), Society for Epidemiologic Research, and InkaHealth. He serves as an Adjunct Professor at Brown University's School of Public Health.
Grants and advising: His research addresses health equity, pandemic response, and medication deprescribing in nursing homes. Projects include the COVVAXAGE initiative analyzing vaccine effects in older adults.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Biostatistics Core and leads initiatives in health services research within the College of Health Sciences.
