Daniel Gordon is a Senior Teaching Fellow and Repetiteur at the School of Music, University of Leeds, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. His position is part-time (70%). He serves as an accompanist, performance tutor/coach and performance examiner at all undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
His areas of expertise include:
- Keyboard accompaniment
- Performance coaching
Daniel has extensive experience in music education and performance. Formerly module leader for level 2 and 3 solo performance modules, he now organizes and accompanies several hundred student performances annually across various genres. He also supports numerous student concerts both on and off campus, including regular performances at Ripon Cathedral (6 lunchtime concerts annually since 2004) and Wakefield Cathedral (2 per year).
Daniel is actively involved in the wider musical community:
- Accompanist and Assistant Chorusmaster of Huddersfield Choral Society
- Conductor of Huddersfield Singers
- Voluntary Music Director of the Leeds Hospitals Trust
- Has performed with notable groups including CBSO chorus, Manchester Camerata, Opera North, and Black Dyke Band
His educational background includes an M.Sc. in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Cranfield and an M.A. in Physics and Philosophy from Balliol College, Oxford. Before becoming a professional musician, he wrote geophysics software and taught computing to postgraduates for several years.
