Daniel Columbus

Dr. Daniel Columbus is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan and a Research Scientist in Nutrition at Prairie Swine Centre. He holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD from the University of Guelph (2004, 2008, 2012), followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the USDA/ARS Children’s Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine. His research focuses on swine nutrition, particularly nutrient utilization, protein/amino acid metabolism, and the interaction between nutrition and health. Dr. Columbus has secured over $4 million in research funding from NSERC, the Government of Saskatchewan, and industry partners like Swine Innovation Porc. He serves as Western Director for the Canadian Society of Animal Science and Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Animal Science.
