Dr. Daniel Burrows is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Cardiff University. He transitioned to academia in 2014 after seven years as a qualified social worker, specializing in healthcare settings. His research focuses on social work with older adults, rights-based practice, and care planning, with a particular emphasis on unpaid carers. He teaches on the MA Social Work program and contributes to professional doctorate courses. His 2020 book, Critical Hospital Social Work Practice, stems from his doctoral work on hospital social work teams’ discharge planning processes. Dr. Burrows holds a Professional Doctorate in Social Work (2018) and has published widely on topics such as pandemic impacts on caregivers and inter-professional collaboration. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a registered social worker.
